Brand Spotlight: Namaste & Crochet
Today I wanted to introduce you to a really cool LA-based company called Namaste and Crochet. I was lucky enough to model for them and discovered a love for crochet.
First of all, something really important to me that I keep in high regards, is supporting small and local companies. I am lucky enough to live in a big city like Los Angeles where creativity blossoms at every corner and it's truly amazing to have this authenticity and luxury to really experience the company the way the owner has imagined it. Namaste & Crochet is a wonderful clothing line, created by Dominique Calvillo. Not only is this woman a great designer, she is also a badass musician with her sisters and is one of the nicest people I've met. Her story is one of a kind and I highly recommend reading about her travels and volunteer work against human trafficking and the birth of her company here.
To many, crochet has this idea of being for old people. She completely changed that perception in me and I am seriously thinking of trying to crochet my own dreamcatcher.
The peacefulness and mindfulness she obtains through meditation while crocheting really takes her art to a next level.
Each piece is handmade with so much love and good intentions and simply wearing them is such a beautiful experience.
So, does crochet fit everyone?
I was worried heading into this shoot because I had no idea if these pieces would fit me. But oh how wrong was I to worry! Something surprising about this is how flexible and how amazing the material adapted to my body and hugged my curves with such perfection. These pieces were flawless and I was so excited to start shooting. Each piece she presented me was fitted specifically to my body so any problems I usually have? Gone! I have a very hourglass type physic, where my bust and hips are large but my waist is tiny. I usually always struggle to find clothes that fit everywhere but are still flattering. Dresses, skirts, tops, you name it! Everything worked wonders!
Make sure to check out her beautiful pieces!
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this!
